Wybron InfoTrace Installed On Liberty Of The Seas

Wybron, Inc. has announced that Royal Caribbean International has installed the InfoTrace Control and Management System on its newest Freedom-class ship, Liberty of the Seas. All of the company’s 21 ships have utilized Wybron’s Coloram products in their theatres since the early 1990s.

InfoTrace is Wybron’s RDM communication and management system that allows any DMX device to send information to the controller. On the Liberty of the Seas, it allows the ship’s production engineer to locate every RDM fixture in the theatre and monitor and maintain them all from a single laptop. Going forward, any RDM-compatible lighting equipment that Royal Caribbean installs in the ship’s theatre can be easily set-up, tested, maintained, and integrated in the InfoTrace System.

“We are so pleased that Royal Caribbean chose to upgrade its newer Freedom-family ships with the InfoTrace system,” says Wybron’s Larry Turner. “By installing the InfoTrace System and Coloram ITs, the company is the first cruise line to adopt the RDM protocol in their professionally lit theatres.”

The IT components that are a part of the InfoTrace System installation on Liberty of the Seas include 78 Coloram IT 4” models, 66 Coloram IT 7.5” models, 12 Eclipse II IT dimmers and 10 power supply units. The Liberty of the Seas theatre is a two deck-high space equal in size to a Broadway theatre.

Royal Caribbean is known for offering its passengers outstanding musical stage productions and headline acts in beautifully appointed theatres. By installing the InfoTrace System, the company will make it easier for the ship’s production crew to easily keep track of and maintain all of the theatre’s lighting equipment.

The Liberty of The Seas accommodates up to 3,634 passengers. It set sail on its maiden voyage on May 19, 2007 from Miami. The third Freedom-class ship, Independence of the Seas, will be the second Royal Caribbean ship to use the InfoTrace System. It is scheduled to debut in Europe in May 2008.

TeleDimensions International Inc., a global integrator of audio, visual, broadcast, and multimedia systems for land-based and marine venues, supplied and installed the InfoTrace System onboard the Liberty of the Seas. TeleDimensions International is currently working with Royal Caribbean International and AkerYards on the design of the next generation of ships.
