The Coast of Utopia brought home a total of seven 2007 American Theatre Wing Tony Awards®, including Best Play and Spring Awakening was the number one musical, nabbing eight Tonys, including Best Musical.
Top design honors were bestowed upon The Coast of Utopia’s Catherine Zuber (costumes); Brian MacDevitt, Kenneth Posner, and Natasha Katz (lighting); and the scenic design team of Bob Crowley (also given the Scenic Design of a musical award for Mary Poppins) and Scott Pask.
Spring Awakening’s lighting designer Kevin Adams took home a Tony for his work also, as did for William Ivey Long for his costumes in Grey Gardens.
