Rental Capital, one of Moscow’s biggest lighting rental companies, has invested in 16 Robe ColorSpot 1200 ATs and 24 ColorWash 1200 ATs, complete with flight-casing, plus Weather Shields for use on outdoor projects.

The company supplies all the major Russian TV channels including ORT, NTV, RUSSIA, and many others, and is also engaged in staging concerts, festivals, and other events.

Rental Capital was founded in 2000, and now employs 80 staff. They purchased the Robe kit to compliment their existing generic and moving light ranges, commenting that Robe fixtures are the perfect match in terms of colors, allowing the easy integration of both light sources if used on the same jobs. Immediately after they were purchased, the new fixtures went directly out for a period of two months, mostly working 24 hours a day with no breaks on several different shows.

The sales deal was completed through local distributor Sofitlight, following intense negotiations by director Arcady Chakhidjanov with support from Robe HQ in the Czech Republic, international sales manager Harry von den Stemmen and Boris Krylov from Robe’s Russian office.

Krylov comments, “We’ve been looking for a partner in the Russian rental market for some time, so when Sofitlight informed me about Rental Capital’s interest, it was really exciting news. They really wanted the deal as well, so all that was left to do was sort out the finer details. Now our products will be on all the major events and TV shows.”

Rental Capital owner Alexey Khrestin thinks that a lighting rental company should have the same attitude as a car rental company—giving their clients what they need at a price they can afford. “We have several lighting brands onboard for different needs,” he explains. “Robe, because of its reliability, is ideal for touring and concerts but we can also use it on TV—it’s a hugely versatile product.
