Bringing the ultimate rock opera to the stage in 1993 made award-winning work for much of the creative team for The Who’s Tommy, including Tony Awards for lighting designer Chris Parry and scenic designer John Arnone. Of course, godmother of projection design herself Wendall K. Harrington still can’t even be nominated for a Tony in 2011, but we’re sure her groundbreaking projections on this production almost 20 years ago paved the way for many projection designers to come. Costume design was by David C. Woolard, with sound design by Steve Canyon Kennedy.
