Political activist and musician Fela Anikulapo-Kuti (1938-1997) is the central figure in Fela!, the Broadway musical based on Kuti’s Afrobeat music and directed/choreographed by Bill T. Jones, who won a 2007 Tony for his choreography of Spring Awakening.
