Angels In America, A Gay Fantasia On National Themes, the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Tony Kushner, came to the Broadway stage in its two parts: Millennium Approaches and Perestroika, winning back-to-back Tony Awards for Best Play in ‘93 and ‘94. Both lighting designer Jules Fisher and scenic designer Robin Wagner were nominated for Tony Awards for their work, and the creative team also included costume designer Toni-Leslie James and sound designer Scott Lehrer. The staging is memorable for the scene in which an angel crashes through the ceiling and into the room of an AIDS patient, adding to the surreal quality of the production.
