4Wall Entertainment ("4Wall") recently completed the installation of a state-of-the-art lighting system at the McCallum Theater in Palm Desert, CA. 4Wall provided the equipment and designed and installed the dimming system.
The project was in planning for roughly four years, but 4Wall had just one month during the summer to complete the installation, while using as much of the existing conduit as possible. During that month, 4Wall installed ETC Sensor® 48 Racks, various ETC fixtures, Wybron CXI scrollers, MAC 2000 fixtures, and 3 consoles: an ETC Obsession® II, Avolites Diamond IV, and a Flying Pig Systems Whole Hog® III.
The goal of this project was to bring the McCallum Theatre lighting department into the 21st century as a premier high-tech performing arts center. Keith I. Smith, production and lighting director at the McCallum Theater, states, "The new system...does even more than I thought possible. I am very impressed with 4Wall's design that allows me to turn work light relays on and off through the WRFU."
The McCallum Theater attracts more than 150,000 theatergoers annually. Now in its sixteenth season, the theatre presents a season including Broadway shows, symphony orchestras, modern dance, and classical ballet. For more information, visit www.mccallumtheatre.com.
