On the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday on April 21st. 2002, Theatre Projects Consultants has been honoured with one of these prestigious British Awards for Enterprise.

Founded in 1957 by Chairman Richard Pilbrow, TPC is today one of the world’s leading firms consulting on the design and planning of theatres, concert halls, opera houses and arts centres. UK projects have included the Glyndebourne Opera House, London’s renovated Royal Court Theatre, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and the National Theatre of Great Britain. Current UK projects include the new Gateshead Concert Hall with Sir Norman Foster, and a 350-seat theatre in London, for the Unicorn Children’s Theatre. Major projects in the Far East include: the Government of Singapore’s new performing arts centre – The Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, which includes a 2,000-seat lyric theatre, 1,800-seat concert hall and smaller performance spaces. In Europe Norway’s national opera house — to be built on Oslo’s waterfront for Den Norske Opera — is in design.

In the United States one of TPC’s latest designs – the 3,500- seat Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, for the Academy Award’s Oscar® ceremonies, was seen on television by over a billion people on 24 March. Other recent projects in the USA include the Kimmel Centre, home of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the $120 million arts centre for the University of Maryland. Projects in design include the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles (architect Frank Gehry), the Overture Projects in Madison, Wisconsin (Cesar Pelli), the Dallas Centre for the Performing Arts (Sir Norman Foster and Rem Koolhaas), the Metropolitan Kansas City Performing Arts Centre (Moshe Safdie) and many others.
