Lighting/production designer Steve Cohen joins LDI2012 as creative consultant for the LDInnovation & Technology Conference, bringing his expertise in the industry to the table. Winner of a Redden Award for Excellence in Concert Lighting for the Star Wars In Concert tour, presented at LDI in 2010, Cohen returns to LDI this year where he will moderate a panel and share his insight on concert touring and its impact on design and technology. Cohen will also participate in the LDI ribbon cutting and awards ceremony.
"Is it about the latest greatest light? The most flexible LED product? The cutting edge in rigging technology? The fanciest widget you’ve ever seen?" asks Cohen. "Yeah, LDI is all of those things. But to me LDI has always been a forum for sharing ideas. For telling war stories. For spending time with people that we share a business with, but seldom have the opportunity to spend time with. Every time I attend, a go away a little dazed, but, generally with a sore gut from laughing. You see our industry is full of knuckleheads. Guys and gals with extreme senses of humor. Fellow travelers on the road, and in the shops and offices that are in a business that, as my father said to me, if you like what you do you never work a day in your life."
Cohen adds: "This year, LDI's 25th anniversary, is shaping up as one of the most memorable. So bring your curiosity, your stories, your knuckleheaded senses of humor and I guarantee you will walk away this year with a sense that our business is meeting the challenges of our industry head on... and winning. Look forward to seeing you there."Cohen’s more than impressive list of credits for stage and television projects includes:
Lenny Kravitz Black and White America Tour 2011;
Reba All The Women That I Am Tour 2011;
