American Seating has moved its world headquarters to a renovated manufacturing facility, located on the company’s campus, now known as American Seating Park.

American Seating’s new home is located in one of the company’s historic manufacturing facilities that was partially vacated and over a century old. The building was viewed as a relic of the company’s Grand Rapids,MI, manufacturing heritage, but still very much a part of American Seating’s roots in the city.

Several years ago the company began to think of the future of the facilities and growth opportunities for the company. American Seating’s owner and COO, Edward Clark, did not want to leave the area and relocate the company, leaving behind the remnants of the company’s roots. "I could not see moving this company to another location or another state," says Clark. "Too many people worked hard to build this company, this is our home and we are staying in Grand Rapids."

With his vision of American Seating’s future, Clark began working with Pioneer Construction to develop a plan to preserve the historic buildings, as well as create a living and working environment not only for American Seating, but also for other companies and residents.

The vision led to the creation of American Seating Park. The development encompasses a 12-acre complex that contains American Seating’s World Headquarters on the entire first floor, covering 55,000 square feet, housing 140 employees and executive offices. Several floors contain commercial space for other companies to enjoy the historic ambiance, as well as apartments and condominiums for a loft-like living environment. The complex also contains a restaurant and amphitheatre, containing 150 American Seating sports chairs, all within a park atmosphere.
