Hubbell Inc. recently announced that Timothy H. Powers was elected president and chief executive officer. He was also elected to the company’s board. Powers succeeds G.J. Ratcliffe, who has led Hubbell’s senior management since 1987. Ratcliffe will continue to serve as chairman of the board of directors.
Powers has been the senior vice president and chief financial officer since joining Hubbell in 1998. He brings broad experience in corporate and operations management in industrial manufacturing of utility, electrical, and electronic products. Prior to joining Hubbell, he worked at ABB Inc. as executive vice president, finance and business development.
Hubbell Inc. also recently opened a new distribution/sales facility in Southern California. The 141,439 sq. ft. (13,140 sq. m) space is conveniently located near the I-10, I-15, and 60 freeways in Ontario. The facility serves as the regional warehouse for several Hubbell companies, houses sales/marketing offices, and a complete training center.
The location provides easy access to all major western freight carriers with 20 accessible doors for intra and interstate freight, as well as “will call” pick-up for the surrounding area. Dozens of aisles filled with flow, static, pallet, and cantilevered racks linked by a new conveyor system are interconnected by a computerized inventory management/shipping system. With this control capability, the facility is ready to ship products for several Hubbell companies, including Bryant, Killark, Raco/Bell, Wiring Devices, Wiegman, and Hubbell Lighting.
Servicing California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, and Hawaii, Hubbell is in a better position to meet the turn around times of customers from its stocked lighting lines of approximately 1200 sku's, including interior and outdoor HID products, such as highbays, floodlighting, 4” poles in four heights from 16’ to 27’ and 5” poles at 25’, sportslighting, fluorescents, recessed, track lighting, emergency, and exit fixtures.
