Lighting designer Bob Hickey has joined the New York City-based Lighting Design Group (LDG) as a senior lighting designer, bringing with him a wealth of television lighting experience. A former staff lighting designer for NBC, Hickey also owned his own company, BJH Lighting. "Bob has lots of experience in lighting television drama, news, and location sports work," says LDG president Steve Brill. "He is an A-player we can slot into a lot of different situations."

The Lighting Design Group is the largest broadcast lighting design firm on the East coast, specializing in industrials, live music, and special events, as well as television. There are currently 10 full time designers on staff. "The timing seemed right for Bob to join us," says Mark London, LDG's vice president for operations. "We've worked with him as a freelance designer in the past."

As far as business goes, LDG reports that things have picked up like crazy and they are as busy as they want to be. Recent LDG projects include the new Connie Chung Tonight studio for CNN, the NBC broadcast studios for the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, Wall Street Week for Maryland Public Television, and MTV's hit series, Wanabees. They have also recently completed a new studio for CNN's American Morning Show With Paula Zahn.
