Lighting Dimensions magazine is pleased to announce that it will be offering complimentary subscriptions to the more than 600 worldwide members of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). This special partnership launches in May 2001, with Lighting Dimensions’ annual architecture issue that focuses on the theme of "Revitalizing Urban Architecture."

In addition to eleven monthly issues, which cover all aspects of professional lighting, Lighting Dimensions also publishes a Buyers Guide in August and an annual Industry Resources guide in December. Beginning in October 2001, Lighting Dimensions will also publish a new quarterly supplement, Lighting Dimensions on Architecture, to expand its coverage of this vital facet of the lighting industry.

"IALD members are at the top of their profession, making significant strides in the advancement of architectural lighting. Lighting Dimensions, which has covered their work for years and has long been at the forefront of the continuing convergence of architectural and theatrical technologies and disciplines, is a perfect complement to their activities and we look forward to strengthened ties with them through this new arrangement," says Lighting Dimensions editor, Robert Cashill.

By providing complimentary copies of the magazine to all IALD members, Lighting Dimensions supports IALD’s mission to serve its worldwide members by promoting the practice of excellent lighting design, and its vision of setting a global standard for excellence in lighting design. "We hope to work closely with IALD members in developing editorial coverage of their projects in Lighting Dimensions," says publisher Jacqueline Tien.

"Our relationship with the IALD has grown over the past few years and we are extremely interested in delivering timely and dynamic architectural lighting coverage to our advertisers," continues Tien. At present, Lighting Dimensions is read by almost 50,000 potential buyers of professional lighting equipment for entertainment and architectural applications.

"The IALD is very pleased to partner with Lighting Dimensions in sending the magazine to all our members," notes Morag Fullilove, IALD’s executive vice president. "Adding this member benefit reflects the close and continued synergy between architectural lighting and theatrical lighting. The independent lighting designers who belong to the IALD come from varied backgrounds including theatrical lighting, architecture, and engineering. We know that our members, regardless of training, will benefit from and be inspired by this leading publication."

IALD’s membership has grown over 44% in the last four years and continues to grow rapidly with over 125 new members a year. Currently, 20% of the members live and work outside of the United States. Established in 1969, the IALD is an international organization dedicated to the professional architectural lighting designer. Based in Chicago and comprised of 675 members throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, IALD’s role is to promote the lighting design profession and advance lighting design excellence in the built environment.

Architectural lighting is also accented on the exhibit floor and in the workshop program at LDI2001, the annual trade show and conference sponsored by Lighting Dimensions magazine. LDI2001 will be held November 2-4, 2001, in Orlando, FL. This year’s architectural lighting sessions at LDI feature such IALD members as Domingo Gonzalez Associates and Grenald Waldron Associates, whose projects are also featured in the May 2001 issue of Lighting Dimensions.
