Attendees at All Access LA Technical Training Day at TMB on Monday, December 13, 2010–presented in conjunction with the Live Design Concert Master Classes—will have hands-on access to Green Hippo Hippotizer media servers and Avolites Pearl Expert consoles with Touch Wings running the latest version of Titan software (work in teams). Avolites boards have been out on a road quite a bit lately, including tours for Kings of Leon, Peter Frampton/ YES Tour, REO SpeedWagon (two Pearl Experts), Jethro Tull and The Blackout, MegaDeath, Bryan Adams, and Justin Timberlake.

“The Avolites Titan consoles are some of the most versatile and easy to use in their class,” says Loren Barton, TMB product specialist “The Titan OS has incorporated the functionality of larger desks into a smaller, user-friendly footprint. These consoles offer functionality at the operator’s fingertips making live operation and fast programming top priorities. This philosophy cuts programming time in half while still creating complex looks. With the new operator-friendly screens, users are able to directly edit cues visually like never before. These new advances make the Avolites Titan range of consoles extremely easy to learn and use continuing their long-standing tradition of being a favorite of the live concert and event industry.”

Doug Mekanik, TMB product specialist, will teach the half-day course, which comprises console layout, windows, patch, palettes, basic cues, and cue lists. “This half-day session will cover the basic programming concepts on modern moving light consoles, specifically focusing on the Avolites Titan platform,” adds Barton. “As an introductory course, attendees will have the opportunity to work hands-on with consoles to explore programming techniques. Students will also tackle small projects designed to familiarize them with various functions of the lighting consoles. At the end of the day participants will have a basic understanding of the functions and operation practices of the Titan console range and a better understanding about programming in general.”

The other half of the day will be dedicated to the Hippotizer media server, recently used on the Scream Awards on Spike TV 2010, Rush 2010, Blue Man Group Tour 2010, and American Idiot on Broadway.
“The Hippotizer continues to push the boundaries of what is possible with live media manipulation and control,” explains Barton, who will be teaching this class. “From the on-board programming and control timeline to the advanced functionality of VideoMapper for creative pixel arrangements, the Hippotizer range of products continues to be one of the most comprehensive and intuitive systems to learn. With an ever expanding feature set, the Hippotizer V3 software remains the choice of multiple industries from live concerts to award shows and beyond.

“This half-day session will cover the basic principles of media servers and how they are used as well as dive into the Hippotizer V3 platform. Participants will be given hands-on time with the media servers to explore the various functions and ask questions. During the class, there will be opportunities for demonstrations and example projects. A key feature of this class will be to take a deeper look at where media servers fit within the larger video system and discuss some basic setups based on specific applications. Anyone who is curious about media servers but who has never explored them should seriously consider taking this class,” Barton says.

“There are so many new avenues and applications being explored by the live entertainment industry, it’s easy to get lost,” he adds. “A day of training that covers this broad range of topics at an entry to intermediate level is a great way to quickly come up to speed on how the latest productions are pushing the envelope. There aren’t many other places to get this kind of hands-on training in such a concentrated dose. TMB is very pleased to offer this day of training in conjunction with the Live Design Concert Master Classes in Los Angeles and we look forward to seeing you here!”
