Lighting designer Cindy Limauro has designed a new production of The Magic Flute for the Pittsburgh Opera, opening this month, and a Balanchine Fest for the Pittsburgh Ballet set to open in April. She is also a visiting professor at Higher Institute of Architectural Sciences, Henry Van de Velde, in Belgium, having created a first-of-its-kind course using a light lab and teaching both theatrical and architectural lighting design to architecture students. The Mayor of Antwerp even gave Limauro a real project to use in class last year, which was later implemented: designing the lighting for the exterior fa├žade of the Royal Museum of Arts. The city installed the student design last summer, and it was inaugurated in September 2006. Limauro also continues to be active in the planning of the Prague Quadrennial, which takes place in June.

Widespread Panic is on tour through April, with set design by Roll-n-Green Productions and lighting design by Candace Brightman. Production manager/FOH engineer is Chris Rabold, monitor engineer is Brad Blettenberg, and rigger is Art McConnel, with lighting provided by AG Light and Sound Inc. and sound gear by Eighth Day Sound.

The Washington, DC, premiere of August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean is running at Arena Stage through March 18 on the Fichandler Stage, directed by Paulette Randall and featuring set design by Scott Bradley, lighting design by Allen Lee Hughes, costumes by Ilona Somogyi, and sound design by Mark Bly.

UK-based LD David Howe has been working on lighting the UK national tour of 42nd Street, which opens in mid-March and will run for six months; he is also busy with the load-in for the London production of The Lord of the Rings, expected to start previews in early March.

New York's The Lookinglass Theatre presents a production of Bertolt Brecht's Baal, from March 1 to 25, directed by Charmian Creagle, with set design by Romanka Zajac, lighting design by Ryan Metzler, and costumes by Rien Schlecht. All music is composed and directed by musical director Alan S. Hewitt and performed by a live four-piece band.

LD Ken Flowers has been invited to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth for a series of lectures as designer-in-residence from April 16 to 20.

LD Don Holder has a busy spring lighting Prelude to a Kiss at the American Airlines Theatre and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at Theatre Under the Stars in Houston, opening on March 17, after which the show will move to the Papermill Playhouse in Milburn, NJ, plus Radio Golf at the Cort Theatre, Yellowface at the Mark Taper Forum and the Public Theatre, Romeo and Juliet at the Delacorte in Central Park, and The Lion King in Johannesberg.

Disney Theatrical's production of Tarzan will open in Holland on April 15 as produced by Joop van den Ende and Stage Entertainment, with the original creative team of director/set and costume designer Bob Crowley, LD Natasha Katz, and sound designer John Shivers.

LD Ted Mather is working on Ravish, a new dance/multimedia piece set to open in Los Angeles, then moving to the Woodstock Interpretive exhibit in Bethel Woods, NY, the Gettysburg Cyclorama painting in Gettysburg, PA, and the National Sports Museum in New York.
