DPA has released the 4006-TL with a transformerless preamplifier and a standard 48V phantom power supply to achieve cleaner sound and increased sensitivity. The transformerless design of the 4006-TL removes the risk of saturation at high levels of low frequencies, resulting in an extended low-frequency handling capability (10Hz to 20kHz ±2dB). All components provide neutral timbre, relaxed purity, tight and focused imaging, and very low distortion even at very high sound pressure levels. The applications of 4006-TL include AB stereo pairing for symphonic concert recordings, close miking on instruments, and speech and vocal applications. The acoustic modification accessories provide seven different frequency responses and directional characteristics. Changing a grid or mounting an element over the capsule will influence the sound field without the phase shift, noise, or distortion of an electrical filter.

Sennheiser introduced their new line of headsets with integrated windscreens — the HSP2 (omni) and the HSP4 (cardioid). The HSP2 headset is outfitted with the MKE Platinum omnidirectional capsule for optimized treble and bass response and can handle sound pressure levels of up to 142dB. The hermetically sealed capsule and “umbrella” diaphragm protect the microphone against moisture. The cardioid HSP4 headset uses a newly designed cardioid version of the MKE Platinum capsule and is designed to deliver greater isolation in live performance environments where background noise and feedback are prevalent. Its flexible gooseneck allows optimal positioning. HSP headsets are constructed of beta titanium materials with an ultra ergonomic, 1.1mm diameter, and fully adjustable boom arm mountable on either side, plus the unobtrusive integrated windscreen. Both headsets are compatible with the new Sennheiser intelligent MZA900P in-line pre-amp with dual-color LEDs that report the status of the cable and phantom power.

The CS4 Spot Line is a moving multi-PAR fixture composed of four ACL cans lined up and able to move both simultaneously and as individual units. It is appropriate for any project requiring moving lights but lacking the space. Each individual can has a pan up to 270°, and both will tilt up to 200° as a whole unit. Each can also has its own built-in dimmer. The entire unit can be floor mounted either vertically or horizontally as well as hung from truss. The CS4 uses PAR64 sized custom 28V specialty lamps. Also available is the CS2, which is made up of two individually controlled ACL cans.

Christie has introduced two new wide-screen projectors: the Christie DW3K and the DW6K. Featuring the new Darkchip2 DMD technology and Xenon illumination, the projectors are ideal for widescreen applications. The DW3K delivers 3,000 ANSI lumens and the DW6K delivers 6,000 ANSI lumens. They feature true 16:9 display, 1280×720 resolution, 1500-2000:1 contrast ratio, and 10-bit image processing for crisp images and color saturation. Built-in edge blending and optional image warping allow images to be wrapped around objects of almost any shape. The projectors' package includes an intuitive graphic interface, auto setup, on-screen help, and direct key access, and a full suite of lenses and optional ceiling mounts are included. The CERMAX Xenon lamp module (1,000 hours lamp life) in conjunction with the Christie Light Output Control (LiteLOC) extends bulb life. With their on-board backlit keypad, IR remote control, and integrated ChristieNET network connectivity module, the DW3K and DW6K projectors provide a high level of monitoring and control over TCP-IP network from anywhere in the world.

Hoffend announced that all Vortek® automated rigging units now have the ability to report the under-load and overload condition on the batten to within 5lbs. and display the condition on either a pendant system or on the Vortek Automation Center (VAC™) system. Knowledge of the weight on each batten will provide the system operator with the ability to calculate the total weight of the equipment (scenery, drapes, lights, etc.) hanging above the stage, alerting the operator to the potential overload condition of the entire roof structure. Each Vortek hoist module (Pendent or VAC version) incorporates load profiling to accomplish both overload and under-load detection. Load profiling devices on each Vortek hoist module permit Pendant units or VAC units to detect weight imbalances between pre-setup or “profiled” loads and “actual” system applied loads; the loads are displayed on VAC's front-end screens. If an imbalance occurs outside of 5lbs. of either excessive or insufficient weight, the Vortek hoist will immediately e-stop. This technology prevents a Vortek hoist module from accidentally picking up additional equipment or driving a heavy scenic or lighting element into the floor.
