d3 Release 10 from UnitedVisualArtists introduces Virtual Projection as its main new feature. The software now maps 2D content onto a 3D object, simulated in realtime in the 3D stage visualizer. Users can import 3D models and apply content onto its sculptural shape, and the software wraps the content around the object, regardless of complexity. Virtual Projectors, virtual cameras within the d3 environment, output content to actual projectors onsite. They set the resolution, lens values, and look-at positions and position them to cover respective projection areas. Also included are additional warping layers such as mesh deform, four-point, nine-point, custom keystoning, as well as integrated soft edging and masking features. The visualizer can run at 60 frames a second and can create camera fly-throughs.
