For its signature annual event bringing together radio and record industry professionals under one roof, the Christian Music Broadcasters (CMB) organization tapped Elite Multimedia Productions to handle complete production services at Momentum 2013.
More than 600 attendees recently journeyed to the Disney Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center in Orlando to participate in Momentum 2013 and its four days of music, workshops and other activities related to the Christian music industry. Given the impact the event can have on a musician or band's career, delivering exceptional production services is a major priority for the CMB team.
"Momentum is a critical springboard for musicians looking to make an impression on broadcasters in hopes of securing more time for their songs across public airwaves," stated Michelle Younkman, CMB's executive director. "As such, it is vital that we provide our musical acts with a production level that enhances, not detracts, from their live performance."
Over the course of the four day event, more than 40 bands performed on the main stage in the hotel's main ballroom. Elite Multimedia Productions, a professional sound, lighting, and video company based in Nashville , provided event organizers and performers with peace of mind by creating a warm and engaging environment featuring rich visuals, optimal sound and superior lighting.
"We know that our artists and our record companies need to feel the security of having the highest quality professional services available to them," Younkman said. "Having Elite Multimedia Productions on-site to handle the entire production for Momentum enabled everyone in attendance to focus exclusively on what was most important to them for a successful event."
For the main stage, Elite used an Avid Profile Desk - one for monitors and one for front of house - while flying three clusters of three line arrays featuring the Electro Voice EV XLD281. To provide seamless transitions between musical presentations, the company utilized Midas Pro 2 for production inputs. In an effort to help each act individualize its set, Elite enhanced visuals by featuring PixelFLEX's lightweight, ultra-flexible 20mm LED video curtain panel upstage, enabling the musicians to change the look of their performance.
"The primary challenge for CMB's Momentum this year was the number of acts and the tight time frames for their set," said Tom Wilson, vice president of event production for Elite. "That had to be carefully orchestrated to ensure that each performer had adequate time to set up so that they could focus solely on their performance without having to worry about external concerns. My team worked well in advance with each act to plan and integrate the transitions from one to the next."
In addition to handling services to the main stage, Elite also was charged with production on the event's second stage, which was also located in the main ballroom. The second stage - featuring a 10x17 rear projection screen fed by two Panasonic 10k projectors - was used by CMB for presentations by radio broadcasting professionals in-between musical performances. Elite's ability to deliver unmatched support to both stages was one of the major benefits of working exclusively with one company, according to Younkman.
"Being able to feel 100 percent secure in knowing that we on the Momentum leadership team did not have to worry about anything in regards to production is priceless," Younkman concluded. "Tom and the Elite team were able to work with us in an incredible way and really took care of us by providing a great service to the artists and our radio attendees. We look forward to working with them again on next year's event."
