ChileVision TV continues to invest in Robe moving lights for their HQ in Santiago, Chile, which has 7 studios. The commercial channel is owned by Turner Media and broadcasts nationwide, primarily specialising in producing light entertainment programmes which need exciting eye-catching lighting and scenic elements.
Robe was first introduced to ChileVision by the station's chief lighting technician Mario Navarrete and chief engineer Luis Silva, who knew how the enormous creative scope and flexibility of a good moving light rig would add to the quality of their productions.
They made their first Robe purchase in 2007 and currently have over 60 Robe fixtures, including ColorSpot and ColorWash 575 and 1200E AT moving lights, Scan 1200 XTs and LEDBlinders.
They chose Robe because of its reliability, quality, good prices - although by no means the cheapest option - and also because of the excellent after-sales service offered by Robe's Chilean distributor - explains Navarrete. He adds that they also like the way Robe utilises new and innovative technologies and listens closely to user feedback.
The purchase coincided with the opening of a new studio at the complex in Chile's picturesque metropolis. They have the option of splitting the stock and moving it between studios as the demand arises. Another new studio was christened in 2008 and this led to a further purchase, this time of the ColorWash and ColorSpot 575E ATs. In early 2010, the Robe inventory was further boosted with an additional 8 ColorWash 575E ATs and 8 ColorSpot 575E ATs.
"The features and the functions of the units are great," says Navarrete, "and I can honestly say that in four years since the first lights started work here - and haven't stopped since - we have not had a single unit break down".
They are used regularly in the designs for ChileVision's studio programmes, OBs and location work by 3 regular lighting designers - Navarrete himself, Jorge Rano and Marcelo Gonzales Flores. "They have really opened up so many possibilities and mean we can be so much more inventive and clever with the lighting than before," says Navarrete, adding that he hopes there will be another purchase in the near future.
The sales were all co-ordinated by Leonardo Macaya who is now working for Robe's current distributor in Chile, Valook, also based in Santiago. He says "Offering an efficient and comprehensive after sales service is vital when you are supplying the very latest technology, and I am confident in pushing the brand as Robe have always been very supportive and are there when needed."
Macaya has been selling Robe since 2003, after first meeting Robe at the LDI exhibition of that year, and since then has seen the company and the brand grow from strength to strength.
Everyone in Chile is eagerly anticipating Robe's newest ROBIN Series of products and in particular the LEDWash 600, which is ideal for lighting in any environment or sector, bringing a host of amazing features and the added bonus of low power consumption and all the other advantages of LEDs.
Programmes produced at ChileVision TV include "Fiebre de Baille" (Dance Fever), "Talent Chileno" (Chile's Got Talent), "Primer Plano" (First Plan" and for the first time this year, they won the contract to be the host broadcaster and technical provider at the world famous Festival Internacional de la Canción de Viña del Mar (Vina Del Mar International Song Festival), which is the most important such festival event in Latin America.
