Blackmagic Design today announced a new lower price on its popular Universal Videohub family of card based broadcast routers.
Universal Videohub is an advanced card based routing system that lets customers mix and match cards and chassis frames to build advanced technology routers. Universal Videohub features the latest 3G-SDI technology and auto switches between SD/HD, RGB 4:4:4 and 2K SDI video formats. Multiple video formats can be routed simultaneously without being restricted to only a set number of inputs and outputs that support particular resolutions and bandwidth. Universal Videohub features SDI re clocking, RS-422 control ports for each cross point, ethernet and serial router crosspoint control, redundant crosspoint cards and redundant power supplies.
Effective immediately the new prices for Universal Videohub cards and chassis components are:
Universal Videohub 288 chassis is now US$9,995.
Universal Videohub 288 Crosspoint is now US$8,995.
Universal Videohub 72 chassis is now US$2,995.
Universal Videohub 72 Crosspoint is now US$2,995.
Universal Videohub SDI Interface is now US$395.
Universal Videohub 450W Power Card is now US$395.
The benefit to the customer of these price changes is a dramatic decrease in cost to build an overall router. A fully populated 72 x 72 router is now less than US$15,000 and this is a lower cost than our Broadcast Videohub router, which is a dramatic saving for a card based router.
“We designed the Universal Videohub to be an advanced router that could remain online 24/7 because any card can be removed and changed out in case of a fault. With Universal Videohub, there are no electronics on the backplane so all components can be easily changed,” said Grant Petty, CEO, Blackmagic Design. “Now, with this new affordable price, Universal Videohub is available to smaller studios on the tightest budgets. Unlike other low cost solutions, with Universal Videohub customers get all the professional features they need without any limitations!”
