Barco announced a major expansion of their North American Service Center in Rancho Cordova, CA, with the creation of individual departments for LED, projection, image processing, and digital cinema products. With over 40,000sq.ft. of floor space available, purpose-built areas have been created to suit the exacting service and maintenance requirements for each Barco product line. Along with staff increases in each department, special attention has been given to stockroom and warehouse space, spare parts, demo equipment, and unique areas to handle advanced technical requirements for product maintenance, repair and troubleshooting. For example, in the Digital Cinema Service Department, clean rooms and positive-pressure environments have been created for precision optical repair and projector re-lamping.
The service center’s exceptionally large floor area not only enables full-scale LED walls to be configured, but also allows ample room for side-by-side projection and digital cinema maintenance stations. Wayne Walker, director of customer service for Barco, Media and Entertainment, North America, manages the multi-department facility. “With certain Barco products, repair work can be performed on the bench in the traditional way,” says Walker, “but with other products such as LEDs and projection, you need a lot of room to properly recreate the customer’s environment. Here, we can build a 50-foot LED wall or configure a multi-projection setup as needed, with ease.”
