Wicked, Assassins Win Big at 2004 Tonys
Despite an upset in the Best Musical category, Wicked and Assassins still managed to win a host of awards as Avenue Q walked away with the top award of the night. The Best Scenic Design Tony Award went to Eugene Lee, veteran set designer for Saturday Night Live for his Wicked set. Another Oz collaborator, Susan Hilferty, picked up the Best Costume Design Tony Award for her unique take on the denizens of the Emerald City and beyond.
The Best Lighting Design Award went to Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer for their work on Assassins, which also won the Best Revival Tony.
