Abe Jacob, Speight Jenkins, John Cameron Mitchell, David Rockwell, and George C. Wolfe to Present 10th Anniversary EDDY Awards, with a Special Presentation by U2 via Video
Presents Annual EDDY Awards on December 7, in New York City
A very distinguished list of presenters representing the diversity of talent in the entertainment industry will be part of the 2001 EDDY Awards ceremony when Entertainment Design magazine presents its annual awards on December 7, 2001.
The 2001 EDDY Award presenters and awardees are:
Legendary sound designer Abe Jacob, whose career ranges from the original production of A Chorus Line to consulting for the New York City Opera, will present a 2001 EDDY Award to Acme Sound Partners, whose principals are Tom Clark, Mark Menard, and Nevin Steinberg;
General director of the Seattle Opera Speight Jenkins will present a 2001 EDDY Award to the design and technical team for the Seattle Opera production of the Ring Cycle;
John Cameron Mitchell, award-winning creator and star of both the stage and screen versions of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, will present a 2001 EDDY Award to the film's costume designer Arianne Phillips and hair/makeup designer Mike Potter ;
Tony Award winner George C. Wolfe, artistic director of the New York Shakespeare Festival/Joseph Papp Public Theatre in New York City, will present a 2001 EDDY Award to video/projection designers Batwin + Robin, AKA Linda Batwin and Robin Silvestri;
Architect/scenic designer David Rockwell of the Rockwell Group, designer of the new Kodak Theatre (for the Academy Awards) and such restaurants as Town, Vong, and Nobu, as well as the sets for the current revival of The Rocky Horror Show, will present a 2001 EDDY Award to the scenic construction company ShowMotion and company president Bill Mensching;
A special video presentation by the rock band U2 will be shown as part of the 2001 EDDY Award to Willie Williams, designer and creative director of U2's current Elevation tour.
This special 10th anniversary EDDY Awards ceremony will be held at John Jay College Theatre (899 10th Avenue between 58th and 59th Streets) in New York City. The awards ceremony will begin at 8:30pm following a 7:00pm cocktail party. The evening also includes a tribute to all past EDDY and TCI Award winners, plus awards for an outstanding group of professional lighting and audio products, and a special salute to a talented group of young designers.
