The Drama Desk Awards for the 2003-04 season were presented May 16 at the LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. The big winners were the musicals Wicked and Assassins, each taking five prizes apiece. Hairspray star Harvey Fierstein was the host of the event for the Drama Desk, an organization of theatre critics, editors and reporters. The design winners are as follows:

Outstanding Set Design of a Musical:
Eugene Lee, Wicked

Outstanding Set Design of a Play:
John Lee Beatty, Twentieth Century

Outstanding Sound Design:
Dan Moses Schreier, Assassins

Outstanding Lighting Design:
Jules Fisher and Peggy Eishenhauer, Assassins

Outstanding Costume Design:
Susan Hilferty, Wicked
