NEC Solutions (America), Inc., Visual Systems Division (VSD) announced that Maureen Schmidt has been promoted to senior director of North American sales. Previously, she was the director of sales for the distribution channel.
As senior director of North American sales, Schmidt will lead NEC's experienced sales team responsible for Pro AV, PC distribution, retail and OEM channels. "Over the past two years at NEC, as a member of our senior staff, Maureen has been instrumental in helping us achieve our aggressive business goals," says Pierre Richer, senior vice president, NEC Solutions America, VSD. "I am confident that due to Maureen's excellent sales record and industry experience, we will succeed in becoming number one in the industry for projectors and plasma displays!"
Schmidt joined NEC in May 2003 as director of sales, Distribution Channel, responsible for revenue for the distribution, mass reseller, and retail channel in the United States. Schmidt also helped expand NEC VSD by adding two new channels of distribution -- office retail and home entertainment -- while consistently delivering NEC's goal of 20% market share in the commercial plasma market.
Schmidt's career includes extensive experience in designing, planning, and executing channel strategies. Before joining NEC, she served as director of channel sales at InFocus Corporation, where she was responsible for channel sales and revenue for seven years. Prior to InFocus, Schmidt worked in the sales and marketing departments for more than a decade at Mitsubishi Electronics America.
