MDG Adds New Productions to Its Broadway Roster

MDG, the Montreal-based manufacturer of fog machines, has long been a dominant player in the Broadway market. The company added to its lineup of clients this season with several new productions including the new Yasmina Reza comedy Life (x) 3 (LD: Hugh Vanstone), the show-business spoof The Play What I Wrote (LD: Tim Mitchell), the romantic comedy Enchanted April (LD: Rui Rita), the Baz Lurhmann revival of the opera La Boheme (LD: Nigel Levings), and the new Off Broadway musical Zanna, Don’t! (LD: Jeff Nellis).

In addition to these shows, MDG foggers were already in use in such long-running shows as Disney’s Aida (LD: Natasha Katz), the hit revival of Cabaret (LDs: Peggy Eisenhauer and Mike Baldassari), Disney’s The Lion King (LD: Don Holder), the ABBA tribute Mamma Mia! (LD: Howard Harrison), The Phantom of the Opera (LD: Andrew Bridge), Thoroughly Modern Millie (LD: Don Holder), and Urinetown (LD: Brian MacDevitt).

On the road, MDG foggers are used in such the national companies of Urinetown, the smash hit revival of Chicago (LD: Ken Billington), the Irish dance phenomenon Riverdance (LD: Rupert Murray), Aida, and the musical adaptation of the popular film The Full Monty (LD: Howell Binkley).

Coming up, MDG products are being used in the new musical Wicked, currently trying out in San Francisco prior to a scheduled Broadway opening on October 31. Kenneth Posner is the LD.
