JPL Productions earned the 2002 Entrepreneur of the Year honor in the Advertising/Media category recently at the annual business gala sponsored by Ernst & Young.

JPL Productions was one of three finalists in the Advertising/Media category. Additional categories included Technology, Telecom/Communications, Consumer Products, Services, Construction, Supporter of Entrepreneurship, and Emerging. Twenty-five finalists representing the successful spirit of entrepreneurship were featured at the event; winners in each category were honored.

JPL Productions earned the award by demonstrating excellence in leadership, financial performance, management, creativity, innovation, overcoming obstacles, developing an employee-friendly environment, and giving back to the community. Using a variety of visual media, from live events and multimedia to video programs and web applications, JPL creates creative communications solutions for clients representing associations, small businesses, corporations, and state government agencies. JPL’s staff includes artists, writers, programmers, engineers, photographers and technicians.

“Receiving this award is an incredible honor,” says Michael E. Horgan, president of JPL Productions. “Much of the credit goes to the talented staff at JPL who never stop pushing the creative envelope to offer our customers solutions to meet their communication needs.”

The annual event provides an opportunity to recognize members of the entrepreneurial community who are providing the solid foundation for future economic growth. Ernst & Young sponsors the event in the Harrisburg area, along with national sponsors USA Today, the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, the Nasdaq Stock Market, and CNN. A panel of judges representing various business sectors across Pennsylvania selects the award finalists and the winner.

Additional area companies provide in-kind support for the event including program printing, signage, audio and voice-over presentations.
