Video designer and programmer Sean Cagney is one of the featured speakers on The Future of Technology panel at the Live Design Projection Master Classes at XL LED Lab on Monday, May 19, 2008. After making his mark as a top freelancer, much in demand for challenging programming gigs, Cagney joined forces with Mode Studios, as of last January, heading up their East Coast office and “providing creative direction, design, and programming services for the local NYC market and for most of Mode's touring applications,” according to Mode principals Bob and Colleen Bonniol.

Cagney worked as a critical member of the team on several of Mode’s biggest shows, including Sinatra in London, for which he programmed the tricky video cues using an MA Lighting grandMA console and Hippotizer media server from Green Hippo, with show control by Digital Antics. “Sinatra represented my biggest career challenge to date, and I was in good company,” Cagney said at the time. As proved by the complexity of Sinatra, Cagney is a genius at programming that allows for the elements of audio, video, lighting, and show control to interact in innovative ways. "My approach is one total show,” he says. “Everything is part of the canvas.”

His recent projects include work for Blue Man Group, MTV’s Total Request Live, Sinatra Live at the London Palladium, Nickelback’s 2007 All The Right Reasons stadium tour, Deuce on Broadway, History Boys on Broadway, Baby Phat at Radio City Music Hall, Kanye West’s Graduation, and numerous brand and corporate events for Jack Morton World Wide.

Cagney will be joined at the Projection Master Classes by his peers from Sharff Weisberg, Lars Pederson and Joshua Fleitell. The three promise to deliver a more than informative look into the future of projection technology.
