Who's Doing What

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre (AAADT) kicked off a 27-city North American Tour in late January and running to May 18, with technical direction by EJ Corrigan, lighting director Al Crawford, assistant lighting director Stuart Nelson, sound engineer Paul Allshouse, and wardrobe supervisor Jon Taylor. Ailey II set out on the second half of a 45-city US tour performing a diverse repertory including Ailey Classics and three world premiere works, with Stacey Boggs as lighting supervisor and Denise Martin, wardrobe supervisor.

Tony and Olivier Award winner for Best Play, The History Boys, is opening March 26 at Washington DC's Metheny Theatre with lighting design by Michael Lincoln, costumes by Alex Jaeger, sound design by Gil Thompson, and set design by Russell Metheny.

The Westport Playhouse has added a fourth week of performances for the Alan Ayckbourn comedy Time of My Life to run April 1 to 19, with costume designs by Tony Award-winner Jane Greenwood, set design by James Noone, lighting design by Rui Rita, and sound design by Scott Killian.

Duo Theatre and Room5001 Theatre of New York Present Man of La Mancha this month under the artistic direction of Michelangelo Alasa and associate artistic directors Anthony Ruiz and Luke Valerio, with set design by Eric Southern, lighting design by Brad King, costume design by David Mendizibal, and sound design by Brittany O'Neill, a founder of Room5001 Theatre, who also recently produced and assistant directed with Naked Angels.

Glimmerglass Opera will stage Handel's Giulio Cesare in Egitto in July and August during Glimmerglass Opera's summer festival in Cooperstown, New York. Directed by Robin Guarino and conducted by David Stern, the production will feature costumes by Gabriel Berry and lighting by Robert Wierzel. The production will run in repertory with Porter's Kiss Me, Kate, Wagner's Das Liebesverbot, and Bellini's I Capuleti e i Montecchi. All four productions will be staged on a set inspired by an Elizabethan theatre and designed by Glimmerglass associate artistic director John Conklin with audio/visual coordinator Joel Morain providing sound engineering.

Washington, DC's Arena Stage presents Arthur Miller's Pulitzer Prize-winning Death of a Salesman and A View from the Bridge in rotating repertory under artistic director Molly Smith, March into May, with set design by Loy Arcenas, costume design by Laurie Churba Kohn, and lighting design by Nancy Schertler.

Houston Grand Opera continues its season with its 37th world premiere, Jake Heggie's Last Acts, at the Wortham Theatre Center's Cullen Theatre, running through March 15. Cesar Galindo is the costume designer, with Brian Nason as lighting designer, Gary C. Echelmeyer as lighting supervisor, and Leonard Foglia as set designer/stage director.

Design firm trafficlight's lighting designers Niklas Pajanti and Paul Lim have been nominated for Green Room Association Awards. Pajanti has been nominated for two awards, one in the dance section for his work on the Melbourne International Arts Festival piece This Show Is About People, and the second for his work in the independent theatre section for the Ranters Theatre piece Holiday. Lim was nominated in the new form section for his lighting design on Detest (This Thousand Years I Shall Not Weep), which played at the Carlton Courthouse early 2007. Award winners will be announced on April 20.
