Who's Doing What

Hamlet Up Close plays New York City's American Theatre of Actors, directed by Barbara Mackenzie-Wood, with set design by Kennon Rothchild, lighting design by Igleau, and costume design by Andrea Ritchie…John Napier is designing the sets and costumes, with David Hersey designing the lighting, for the London revival of Peter Shaffer's Equus, which opens at the Gielgud on February 27 and stars Richard Griffiths and Daniel Radcliffe (known for his film portrayal of Harry Potter); the sound design is by Gregory Clarke. Hersey also recently designed the lighting for Trevor Nunn's current London revival of Porgy and Bess at the Savoy Theatre, collaborating with scenic designer John Gunter, costume designer Sue Blane, and sound designer Paul Groothuis; Hersey is back on Broadway as well, now that this season's revival of Les Misérables is up and running…Set designer Allen Moyer, who recently received a Henry Hewes Award for his scenic design of Grey Gardens, is also represented on Broadway this season with the set designs for The Little Dog Laughed, with costume design by Jeff Mahshie, lighting design by Donald Holder, and sound and original music by Lewis Flinn. (Associate scenic design is by Warren Karp, and Hilary Manners is associate lighting designer.) Moyer's future projects in the opera world include a new production of Orfeo at The Metropolitan Opera in collaboration with director/choreographer Mark Morris and costume designer Isaac Mizrahi, as well as the world premiere of The Grapes of Wrath at The Minnesota Opera in February, with Karin Kaplinsky designing the costumes, Robert Wierzel designing the lighting, and Wendall K. Harrington designing projections…LD Howell Binkley's dance lighting will be seen at The Joyce Theatre in New York when Parsons Dance (choreographer David Parsons) performs there December 5 to 17. The program includes the NY premieres of Nascimento Novo, Peel, and One Long Move, plus a revival of Ring Around the Moon.
