AFT acquires a fiber first

Juno Lighting Inc., an architectural lighting manufacturer, has acquired Advanced Fiberoptic Technologies Inc. (AFT) of Palmetto, FL. This is the first acquisition by a traditional lighting company of a company in the expanding fiber-optic lighting field, a segment that is expected to reach sales of $1 billion by the year 2000. Says AFT president Reed Powers, "the purchase will inject capital and expertise into Advanced, allowing us to continue R&D as well as introduce new products for display cases and other retail applications."
