Award-winning lighting designer John Gates will bring more than 20 years of experience to the table when he leads the LDI session Green Lights for TV Studios on Saturday, October 25, from 11AM to 12.30PM. “I will walk attendees through a range of television studio light sources that will allow them to design their lighting in an environmentally conscious manner, using various energy-efficient sources without compromising their own lighting design approach,” Gates explains. He will start with what attendees can do right now with the lights they already own, look at lights presently available that they might not own, and then look forward to what direction future choices might be. “This is definitely not ‘one size fits most’ lighting,” he says.

Gates’ work has appeared on almost every domestic broadcast and cable network and several foreign networks: ABC, Al-Jazeera, ARD, BBC, CBC, CBS, CNN, C-Span, Discovery Channel, Dubai Television, ESPN, Fox, Group W, HBO, Hearst, MSNBC, MTV, NBC, RTE, PBS, Playboy, Tele+2, among others. He has lit every US President since Nixon and works in many formats, including 3D.
