Daktronics ProStar® Draws Customers To Virgin Megastore

A Daktronics (Nasdaq-DAKT) ProStar® light-emitting diode (LED) video display entices customers to the new Virgin Megastore West Coast flagship location, which opened in Hollywood, CA, on October 12.

Daktronics technology continues the evolution of the Virgin Megastore retail concept. It gives the Hollywood and Highland store, located in the heart of the world's entertainment capital between Grauman's Chinese Theater and the Kodak Theater, an innovative product presentation to the expected in-store traffic of more than 3 million people per year.

"Virgin is a place of discovery where customers can get exposed to, learn about and sample a range of products including CDs, DVDs, fashion, electronics, books, and games," says Marc Block, marketing director for Virgin Entertainment Group, North America. "The LED is just another way to help our partners and educate our consumers."

The spectacular signage is a key visual element to the new West Coast flagship store and displays Virgin Megastore's image to the 8 million people per year who visit the Hollywood and Highland complex.

The 275sq.ft ProStar® video display is the largest LED sign on Hollywood Boulevard and prominently plays a 60-minute program wheel of music, movie, games, and consumer electronics advertising along with Virgin-branded content plus daily topical on-going entertainment news and information. With a 16mm pixel pitch, it displays crisp and clear full-motion video, live camera feeds and still images in 4.4 trillion colors.

ProStar® technology, HD-ready and available only from Daktronics, uses the latest in RGB light emitting diode (LED) technology to present live and recorded video images, colorful animation and vivid graphics with incredible brightness and wide angle visibility. Daktronics is recognized as the world's leading provider of full-color LED video displays, with more than 1,600 displays sold and installed worldwide.

A 77’ long, 20mm red LED ticker display complements the ProStar® technology and wraps the storefront with branded content, in-store concerts, signings, or promotional events for Virgin Megastore patrons.

Daktronics industry-proven Venus® 7000 controller operates both displays and schedules content.

Virgin Entertainment Group is also teaming with Daktronics to help refurbish their landmark Times Square Virgin Megastore with new LED signage that is scheduled to be operational by November 1.
