OptiLED Introduces New S6 Glass Light Bulbs

OptiLED (booth #1849) introduces its S6 LED pseudo-filament lamp, a breakthrough LED product that can replace incandescent S6 glass light bulbs.

The S6 is designed for a variety of applications, including marquees, retail, hospitality, staging, and residential environments that require a bright-colored lighting effect while offering ultra low power consumption and heat output.

Capable of continually burning for over five years, with low heat output and peak power consumption of less than 0.5 watts, the blub is a durable and safe light source. The optically clear polycarbonate dome does away with painted glass, eliminating problems of fading, cracking, and appearing black when turned off. The unit is very robust with an IP-63 rating making it suitable for damp or wet environments. It also includes UV protection for its polymeric components for long life in exterior uses.

This virtual-filament LED lamp is available in five colors--red, green, blue, amber, white, and warm white--and comes in single color packs of 10 or multipacks containing two lamps of each color.

“The S6 was developed to meet the demands of our customers who needed an LED lamp that was easily adapted to any environment and could create a wide range of effects while reducing power consumption,” said Bruce Pelton, OptiLED’s vice president of sales. “The S6 solved these challenges as it emits much less heat than the incandescent glass bulbs yet produces brilliant and intense, long-lasting colors.”

Using a switched mode power supply, it operates on voltages from 6-12V AC or DC. The electronics and light source sit beneath the optics with the light traveling through the Light Prescription Innovators’ (LPI) primary optic to the center of the globe and the secondary LPI optic dispersing the light in a 360 degree pattern on the horizontal plane and 300 degree pattern on the vertical plane.

The colored S6 LEDs have a rated life in excess of 5 years continuous use, very low heat output and a peak power consumption of less than 0.5W.

Compared to the OptiLED S6, the standard incandescent lamp has a rated life of 1,500 hours or less than 2.5 months continuous operation and would need to be replaced up to five times a year. The benefits achieved using an OptiLED S6 translate into reduced power consumption, replacement costs and significantly reduced maintenance.
