High End Systems Inc. (HES) and Strong Entertainment Lighting have completed a sales transaction that will enable Strong to manufacture and sell Technobeam®, the industry’s popular moving mirror luminaire, which HES released in 1998.

Since that time, Technobeam (a Richard Belliveau design) became an industry staple used in a variety of applications in all market segments. Under terms of the agreement, Strong purchased all rights to Technobeam including all tooling and product trademarks. In addition, Strong has sublicensed all intellectual property associated with Technobeam.

Strong expects to reintroduce the product early this spring and continue using the Technobeam brand name.

States John Wilmers, CEO of Ballantyne of Omaha, Strong’s parent company, “This will be the same Technobeam that the industry has come to appreciate over the past eight years. It will be manufactured using the identical parts and tooling that High End used, making this one of the most reliable lighting instruments in the industry.”

HES CEO Frank Gordon says, “In the past eight years, we have shipped more than 10,000 units and rarely experienced service issues. It truly has been a work horse for the industry.”

Wilmers further comments, “The reliability and quality of Technobeam makes this a consistent product with our overall offering. We have always been focused on products that are backed by best-in-class service and support people and practices.”
