CAL from Meyer Sound is a new series of self-powered steerable column array loudspeakers, with a vertical beam that can be angled up or down 30° and can be configured with vertical beam widths from 5° to 60°. Multiple or split beams can be used as needed to fit the application. The speakers incorporate digital signal processing as found in the D-Mitri digital audio platform and are built upon sound directivity research in collaboration with the University of California Berkeley’s Center for New Music and Audio Technologies (CNMAT). Each driver and tweeter is powered by a dedicated amplifier channel, and the system delivers 120° of horizontal coverage. Available in three column lengths ranging from less than 1m up to 1.8m, the speakers operate across a frequency range of 150Hz to 10kHz and support AES/EBU digital and AVB-enabled Ethernet inputs as well as line level analog inputs.
