The wash casting the halo effect on the actors in the second photograph (Duets in the Act Of) is absolutely gorgeous. The sharp relief and contrast is crazy good.
In the tenth image, there's a crop row effect. was this applied by throwing a blue light over everything and a white, brighter light with a gobo with slots of lines cut out with it? Or was it something else?
Nathan, thank you! Cal, good question. Those lines were created with 50deg Source Fours from the ends of each electric. They had no color, so they were able to punch through the blue in that photo. There were no gobos involved; they were shutter cuts. They were tedious to get right, but I laid out tape lines to help get them right.
