Televoters from 43 countries have decided the winner of the 2008 “Confluence of Sound” Eurovision Song Contest: Dima Bilan representing Russia with his song “Believe.” The spectacular final at the Belgrade Arena in Serbia consisted of entries from 25 countries. Lighting designer Per Sundin is an old hand at designing the Eurovision Song Contest. From 2002 to 2005 he created a spectacular show every year for the 100 million viewers worldwide. Just as in 2007 and 2006 the event was again controlled by a sophisticated grandMA system. Four grandMA full-size at the FOH were joined by an equal number of consoles as backup. 23 MA NSPs spread the commands to a massive lighting rig.

The show used, besides many others, 136 Clay Paky Alpha Spot HPE, 24 BigLites, numerous Martin moving lights, approximated 120 square meters of Barco OLite 510, 24 square meters of Barco SLite 10, and a number of Martin LED screens. A giant stage construction was built on the arena floor, which was 25 meters wide and 27 meters deep. Seventy-two tons of light equipment were mounted to nearly 2,500 meters of truss.

Procon Event Engineering GmbH, Germany, was the general technical supplier and provided lighting, sound, video, stage building, rigging, and power. Production designer was Goran Joksimovic. Sven Stojanovic worked as art director. The event was broadcasted and organized by RTS (Radio-televizija Srbije).

A.C.T Lighting is the exclusive North American distributor for the grandMA.
