American Pyro

It was a double blast for Maryland's Digital Lightning at the May 12 Birthplace of Our Nation and America's 400th Anniversary celebration in Washington, DC, where the company produced a large scale fireworks display and also lit a performance by Journey.

The 20-minute fireworks display included 10" shell diameters with 1,000' high projections — comparable in size to the Fourth of July fireworks at the National Mall. Because of the shell-size, the fireworks were placed in tubes and buried in dumpsters filled with sand. Alysha DiGiorgio, co-owner of Digital Lightning and president of ISES, Greater Washington DC Chapter, employed two separate crews for the event that required a multi-day setup and secret service clearance. The lighting drew of 16 was tasked with replicating Journey's full tour lighting that included over 50 moving lights.
