LumenRadio lights Gothenburg's Götaplatsen

p1000733.JPGLumenRadio's CRMX wireless lighting controls played a key role in a new lighting system for Götaplatsen in central Gothenburg, Sweden. The project is part of the city's effort to actively use lighting to enhance the urban environment and it was a featured project at the recent Annual General Meeting of the Lighting Urban Community International (LUCI).

The plaza, located at the end of the Kungsports Avenue, is the center of city's cultural life and is lined by 3 major institutions; the Gothenburg City Theater, the City Art Museum, and the Gothenburg Concert Hall. The plaza features an impressive fountain with a gigantic statue of Poseidon and attracts large crowds for such annual events as Chalmerscortégen, Christmas in Gothenburg, and Gothenburg City Marathon.

LumenRadio developed the permanent installation, designed with energy efficient and environmentally friendly LED fixtures, in cooperation with their Swedish distributor Hofmann Teknik AB and engineering firm Ramboll, with government support and ownership by the City of Göteborg Traffic and Public Transport.

LumenRadio's wireless CRMX Nova units were deployed to extend the reach of DMX and RDM distribution to all parts of the comprehensive lighting system on and around the plaza without any disruptive or costly construction work. IP65 rated CRMX Nova receivers were strategically placed around the plaza to maintain an uncluttered appearance of the surrounding buildings and to keep the technical infrastructure invisible to the largest extent possible.

The extensive lighting system is monitored using LumenRadio's CRMX SuperNova software; which allows continuous monitoring of all connected devices and fixtures and keeps the user informed about such vital information as signal strength & condition, critical temperatures, possible errors, and other operational issues.

Patric Nord, Operations Manager at Hofmann Teknik says, "A complex installation like this demands the most reliable wireless system on the market and a comprehensive management and monitoring tool. LumenRadios's CRMX technology with Cognitive Coexistence fulfilled all expectations and CRMX SuperNova provided the tools we needed to make the ongoing operation and maintenance of the system manageable and cost efficient. We, as well as our client the City of Göteborg Traffic and Public Transport, are very pleased with the result and the performance of LumenRadio's CRMX products."
