ESP Vision extends Media Server integration with Hippotizer and Datapath

Hippotizer PicLas Vegas, NV – ESP Vision has completed a comprehensive Media Server and video capture enhancement to its PC product, Vision 2.3 PC. Included in this new functionality is integration with the Datapath Vision SD series of video capture cards, Hippotizer V3 via HMAP2, and added mapping capabilities within the product.

ESP Vision was the first visualizer package to include media server integration via capture card in 2004. However, as media becomes an ever-increasingly important part of any concert, corporate event, broadcast event or trade show, it is important for the product to continue to enable end-users to easily visualize their lighting and media from many different sources. HMAP2 provides for video streaming from multiple Hippotizer media servers via Ethernet to Vision 2.3 PC. According to Dedrick Duckett, Director of Technology for ESP Vision, “While there are a number of media server networking protocols out there, HMAP2 from Hippotizer seems to be the most comprehensive and flexible. This integration was a key part of our most-recent enhancement to Vision 2.3 PC, and definitely, the most important.”

“We are delighted with the completion of the network protocol integration between ESP Vision and Hippotizer V3,” says Nigel Sadler, Green Hippo Special Projects Director. “With this integration, lighting and multiple Hippotizers can be easily pre-visualized within ESP Vision, providing a very powerful tool to the pre-production process. As one of the leading pre-viz packages, we are excited that ESP chose our protocol to implement into their product.”

With this release, multiple video sources can be mapped to multiple destinations, including video screens, projectors and moving head fixtures. Additionally, subsets of any input can be cut-out and mapped separately to any destination, as well, providing ultimate flexibility, and pixel-perfect accuracy.

With the addition of Datapath integration, users of non-HMAP2 compliant media servers that need multiple inbound video streams can now accomplish this using a single PCI-e card. The Vision SD series from Datapath allows for up to 8 unique video streams, all managed by a single piece of hardware. “It is common-place for a standard production to include multiple media servers,” says Alan “AJ” Jesse, Director of Marketing for ESP Vision. “The Datapath cards now provide the ability to simultaneously visualize these multiple inputs at the same time within Vision.”

All existing Vision subscription-holders have access to these new enhancements via the Vision 2 Updater. Integration into Vision 3 MAC is in process, and should also be available shortly.
