DiGiCo's Breakthrough SD7 Live Sound Console Receives Prestigious Parnelli Award For "Indespensable Technology 2009 - Audio"

DiGiCo's breakthrough SD7 live sound console took top honors for "Indispensable Technology 2009 – Audio" at the 2009 Parnelli Awards event--the premiere awards show for the live industry since 2001. The Parnelli awards recognize pioneering, influential professionals and technology. The awards ceremony coincided with the LDI trade show in Orlando, FL, this November.

"We are very proud to win the "Indispensable Technology" award, and want to thank all of the sound designers and touring engineers that have gotten behind the console," expressed Jack Kelly, President of Group One Ltd. and U.S. distributor of DiGiCo. "The technology used in the SD7 and SD8 consoles cannot be matched, and at the end of the day, the sheer number of professional engineers that stand behind the console, and the technology, nightly certainly reinforces that."

The SD7 has helmed numerous tours and productions worldwide including events (Montreux Jazz Festival, Juanes' "Peace Without Borders" Cuban concert, and the 60th anniversary "National Day Parade" in Bejing China); Broadway and theatre installations ("Lord of The Rings" at London's Royal Albert Hall and NYC's Radio City Music Hall, "Addams Family" & "Young Frankenstein" on Broadway, Ordway and Wolf Trap Performing Arts Centers); music tours (Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Lenny Kravitz, Lionel Richie, Madonna, Shakira, U2, The Who); top global production companies (Clair Brothers, Eighth Day, Masque Sound, Sound Image), and is the first-call console choice by renowned engineers (Jim Ebdon, Rob "Cubby" Colby, Paul Ramsay, Joe O'Herlihy, Tim Colvar, Mark Brnich, Kevin Glendinning, Lars Brogaard, and many, many more).

Introduced in 2008, the SD7 is powered by DiGiCo's latest high-density digital processing, the all-new Stealth mixing and routing engine, exclusive to DiGiCo. Based on the latest incarnation of FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) technology, known as Super FPGA, it is a core component of the SD7's quantum leap in console design. Allied to three of the latest generation of SHARC® effects and control processors (Tiger SHARCS), it endows the SD7 with a staggering eight times the overall processing power of a D5 Live. The benefits are to be found not only in the high resolution audio processing that makes 128 simultaneous 192kHz signal paths readily achievable, or 256 at 48kHz/96kHz, but limitless flexibility too.

The SD7 shares a similar mixing platform and Super FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) technology as its smaller siblings--the SD8-36 and SD8-24 models.
