It's Magic

Jan 1, 2008 12:00 PM

For the Autostadt of Volkswagen in Germany, an estimated 10,000 spectators viewed the musically synchronized Magic Waters every evening over a period of four weeks, a spectacle complete with huge water jets and immense darting flames. LunatX Special Effects GmbH (www.lunatX.com) developed the pyrotechnics, and Gahrens & Battermann (www.gb-mediensysteme.de) designed the projections, while Karajaal Design Aquatique (www.karajaal.com) provided the water and lighting features. Four shows choreographed to different music styles — classic, swing, rock, and film scores — entertained the spectators nightly. LunatX developed a completely new flame system — the X-Flame C.3 liquide — for the show. Fifty systems were installed, using 4.5km of cable and 18,000 liters of fuel over four weeks.
