Coemar Striplite LEDs Add Color To Epcot Center

Lighting designer Joe Schweickert of Orlando, Florida’s JS Lighting & Design, Inc. tapped Coemar Striplite LEDs for lighting effects for the post show of the Figments Imagination Journey ride at the “Honey, I Shrunk the Audience” attraction at Epcot Center in Orlando.  Inner Circle Distribution is the exclusive distributor of Italian-made Coemar lighting in the US.

The recently revamped ride features an interactive “Stepping Tone Area” where kids can step on pressure-sensitive pads on the floor triggering sound and images of children playing instruments to be displayed on two huge walls.

“We used Coemar Striplite LEDs in that area as giant wall washes of dark, saturated colors,” explains Schweickert.  “Each LED panel acts as a wall wash. When the kids step on the floor pads, they light the pictures and the wall, and the Striplites do a nice color chase around them in lots of great colors—reds, magentas, yellows.  ETC incandescent sources do a cross-fading color chase around the wall.”

Coemar Striplite LEDs come in come in 2’, 4’, 1/2 m, and 1m LED configurations and are equipped with dimmer and synchronized or randomized strobe effects and generate infinite colors by convergent RGB colors + white at 3200K.

Schweickert employed 12 Striplite LEDS, which were top hung around the perimeter of the wall.  “The Coemars were perfect because they were unobtrusive,” he notes.  “Everyone loves them—Disney, the ride sponsor Kodak, and my client EXP Productions.  In fact, we’re getting ready to do more stuff with Coemar lighting in the rest of the space.”

Schweickert is also “very happy” with the Striplites.  “They’re cool and do a great job; they’re working very well more than 12 hours a day.  I’m also really pleased with the great support I’ve gotten from Brian Wray and all the people at PRG, which supplied the Striplites, and Coemar.”
