Sew What : Our Story

Sew What? Inc. is a respected Theatrical Drapery Manufacturer and Custom Sewing Service working with the entertainment industry, special events, and trade show exhibit circuits. Sew What? produces every possible “soft” construction for theatres and stages from massive 3-D fabric sets for rock concerts to grand front curtains in world class-auditoriums. While custom stage curtains and theatrical drapery manufacturing has earned the company a powerful celebrity clientele, Sew What? also provides drapes and soft goods supplies for trade show booths, corporate events and booths, private parties, fashion shows, and exhibitions, even schools and community theaters.

With humble beginnings as a tiny kitchen operation in 1992, Sew What? is now a state-of-the-art service provider with international capabilities to service clients from New York to Athens to Sydney, all at Internet speed. Their customers now regard them as a creative equal in the world of theater and performance, and have come to depend on them to deliver when others can’t.

Sew What has created theatrical drapes for many of the biggest touring performers, including Sting, Madonna, Rod Stewart, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, Cyndi Lauper, Maroon 5, Green Day, Dave Matthews Band, James Taylor, and Kid Rock. Their work was included on the historic 1000th cover of Rolling Stone magazine in 2006.

In addition, Sew What? has received numerous awards for innovation and commitment to customer service, including the 2006 Dell/NFIB Small Business Excellence Award, PC Magazine’s SMB 20 Award for technological innovation for small and medium-sized businesses, and the Stevie Awards in 2006 for “Most Innovative Company of the Year – Up to 100 Employees.”

Sew What?’s beautifully designed, highly detailed website (www.sewwhatinc.com) includes a lengthy list of its extensive custom product line, from stage curtains, backdrops and cycloramas to textured Austrian, Venetian, and Braille drapes for special events.

Despite the company’s high caliber clientele, Sew What? Inc. emphasizes that they love working with up-and-coming artists and bands. “We love being a part of a developing band’s success story. It echoes our own roots.” says Megan Duckett, President and Founder of Sew What?. “For clients on a budget, we can help develop a multi-use backdrop, on which the designs are printed on both sides. As the band starts playing larger venues, we can expand the draperies to suit the new settings.”

All this has been made possible by combining traditional business values with today’s newest technologies, which has resulted in a projected increase in revenue of 65% over 2005! On target to exceed $___ million in revenue this fiscal year, Sew What? Inc is the fastest growing business within the marketplace for like products.
