IN PRINT: MAY ISSUE

LIVE DESIGN PRODUCTS OF THE YEAR
Picked by our independent panels of designers, programmers, and technicians in sound, lighting, staging, and projection, check out who makes the list of the big product winners in our May issue.

CONCERT
Bon Jovi
The team at Artfag has designed a new leg for Bon Jovi's tour, with Justin Collie at the helm as designer and show director, Kosher Pixels providing original content treatments, and set construction by Tait Towers. Gear includes equipment from Green Hippo and Control Freak, among others.

VJING
Addictive TV at SXSW
VJ Robb Pope visited Austin, TX, where London-based Addictive TV (DJ and audio/video remixing act) performed at the SXSW Music and Media Conference & Festival Film Closing/Music Opening party in support of Moby. Check out how they perform and mix visuals, and what's in their tool kit to create an exhilarating show.

THEATRE
Century Cycle At The Kennedy Center
The Kennedy Center staged all ten of August Wilson's Century Cycle plays in a festival the venue calls "staged readings," with seven different directors and Kenny Leon as artistic director. David Gallo designed sets, with Reggie Ray on costumes and Allen Lee Hughes on lighting. Gear was a mix of house systems, as well as supplemented gear, including equipment from Vari-Lite, Stage Research, MOTU, NTI, Lexicon, and more.

ROUNDTABLE
Projection Designers
Bob Bonniol leads a lively discussion of projection designers looking at creative instinct and the source of that instinct.

OPERA
Tosca at Royal Albert Hall
In March 2008 Raymond Gubbay's perennial opera-in-the-round offering at London's Royal Albert Hall was Tosca, featuring a ground-breaking sound automation technique which combined Out Board's TiMax Audio Imaging delay matrix with the new TiMax Talent Tracker (TTT) radar tracking system, based on ultra-wideband (UWB) radar technology developed in conjunction with Cambridge technologists Ubisense. Autograph Sound provided the Meyer/d&b and Digico sound system.
