Product Innovations That Changed The Industry
The votes are in from readers worldwide. See what made the list of top technology that came into our market and became game changers for those working in production.

CONCERT
Roger Waters’ The Wall
With a design team that includes Mark Fisher, Marc Brickman, and Sean Evans, a wall of projection, puppets, and many moving parts, The Wall is a massive culmination of talent and engineering, including gear and services from Tait Towers, XL Video, PRG, AJA Video Systems, Maxon, VVTR, Apple, SGPS, SAMSC Design, Barco High End, Medialon, MA Lighting, Vari-Lite, Syncrolite, Martin Professional, MDG, Lycian, and more.

CLUB
Marquee in Las Vegas
The hottest new club in Las Vegas opens this month: the decadent, cabaret-style Marquee at the new Cosmopolitan Hotel. Designed by David Rockwell with an entertainment lighting system by Steve Lieberman, gear includes equipment from Philips Vari-Lite, Philips Color Kinetics, Birket Engineering, Martin Professional, MA Lighting, Elation, and more. Architectural lighting is by Fisher Marantz (interiors) and Focus Lighting (pool area).

EVENT
Opening The St. Gotthard Tunnel
After 14 years' work, the recent celebrations for the cut-through of the last diaphragm of rock in Switzerland’s new St. Gotthard Tunnel, the world’s longest railway tunnel at 35.4 miles, included a dinner with 1,200 guests and a concert inside the tunnel itself. Gear for the occasion included equipment from Clay Paky, DTS, Teclumen, Inotec, Electrovoice, Delta, Outline, Kling & Freitag, Yamaha, Shure, Sennheiser, Barco, Eiki, AV Stumpfl, Eurotruss, Liftket/Chainmaster, and Litec.

THEATRE
The Oregon Shakespeare Festival Curtains the Cat
For the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s production of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, the curtain that changed shape during the show was a central element but also created challenges for the show running in rep. With scenic designer Christopher Acebo’s abstract and wide-open set, the curtain helped to set the scenes, and Christopher Akerlind’s lighting had to help close and expand the space, including gear from Vari-Lite, Martin, Apollo, Wybron, ETC, PANI, Digital Projection International (DPI), SAMSC Design, and more.

TECH:
Right on Cue Systems:
Eric Fielding takes us through the process how solving the problem of conducting a MIDI orchestration for the performances of 110 in the Shade for Utah’s Hale Center Theatre led to the development of Right on Cue Systems.
